VSC is being improved upon with each release. Visual Studio Code is not as friendly for new website builders as WebMatrix, but it extremely popular with thousands of add-ons. Microsoft is using Visual Studio Code (VSC) as the alternative for WebMatrix. WebMatrix is still listed in Microsoft's Web Platform Installer (WebPI), however, it will not install due to the removal of older packages online that are required. There are links to the standalone installer on the Internet, but you need to ensure that the installer is legitimate and will not install malware, furthermore it is unlikely to work on the latest version of Windows.
